Established in 1906, DTI employs 950 specialists annually servicing more than 11,000 customers. Her Majesty, Queen Margaret II of Denmark is the patroness of the Institute.

DTI is among the top five technological centres in Europe for applied R&D and encompasses seven divisions: Building and Construction; DMRI; Energy and Climate; Business & Society; Life Science; Materials, and Production.

DTI houses some of the largest and best equipped laboratories in Europe for Testing and Calibration and is the operator of the Primary Laboratories for Dimensional Metrology and for Water Flow and the Reference Laboratory for Temperature.

DTI has worked internationally on R&D scene since 1970 as a founding member the World Association of Industrial and Technological Organizations, together with the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research in India, and in the Global Research Alliance of the world’s leading knowledge institutions committed to exploiting the resources of the members to the benefit of society at large.
