Partner-logo-Basildon-Borough-CouncilHome to over 175,000 residents and more than 6,500 businesses employing over 77,000, Basildon is the second largest economy in the Thames Gateway region outside of Canary Wharf. The borough is also home to international names such as Ford Motor Company (automotive research and development), Selex ES (military guidance systems and civil aeronautics), Konica Minolta (printing) and New Holland Agriculture (leading tractor manufacturing).

Just 8 miles from the M25, the major motorway around London, and with two train lines running into London, Basildon is just 35 minutes from London Fenchurch Street station and 40 minutes from London Liverpool Street station. The borough is also within easy reach of London City, London Southend and London Stansted airports and is only 5 miles from the site of DP World's London Gateway port, the UK's newest deep-sea port and location for what will be Europe's largest logistics park. The council has also entered a long-term partnership with Barratt Wilson Bowden as part of a multi-million pound town centre regeneration programme creating up to 2,000 new homes, a new college for up to 2,000 students as well as new leisure facilities to ensure that Basildon presents a modern face for modern times.
