The biotechnology sector is one of the fastest growing knowledge-based sectors, and is set to play a key role in shaping India's rapidly developing bio-economy.
With numerous advantages in terms of R&D facilities, knowledge, skills, cost effectiveness and Government support, the biotechnology industry in India has immense potential to emerge as a global key player.
Biotech clusters are growing in India, but the major ones are localized in southern and western part of India. EBTC’s efforts in the sector have largely been focused on biopharma, bio-agriculture, bio-industrial, bio-informatics and systems biology, bio-services and monitoring other bio-related technologies.
EBTC interacts with a wide EU-India network growing in strength, which includes Government funding bodies, associations, private companies and research organisations.
