A Resource Efficiency Approach to Waste Management

1

This report by EBTC addresses the feasibility of implementing waste-to-energy by incineration in India. Its objective has been to understand the needs and demands for waste-to-energy management technologies for industrial zones and industrial clusters. It focuses on industrial wastes, but is not excluding the domestic waste (municipal solid waste).

EBTC hopes that this report will be relevant for other regions and also provide pathways for European entrepreneurs, businesses and institutions to internationalise their operations to address the critical problem of waste management in India.

Membrane Technologies for Water and Wastewater Treatment

1

Membrane separation is currently used as support or replacement for traditional water and wastewater treatment technologies such as physical filtration or biological and chemical treatment. It is rapidly gaining acceptance throughout the world as the most effective and economical water treatment method available.

Water scarcity, tightening regulations in India and the current gap between the state of the art of the technology in European and Indian markets are creating enormous growth opportunities for EU companies to enter the Indian market and offer their technologies and equipment for the water and wastewater sector. This reports from the Fraunhofer Society and EBTC looks into those opportunities, and the challenges the companies will face.
