An energy management system (EMS) is a network-based system that enables the monitoring and optimization of the energy performance through the control of home or commercial building services such as heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), lighting and other key consumers of energy. Energy management systems are sub-divided into home energy management systems (HEMS) and building energy management systems (BEMS). HEMS refer to energy saving and monitoring technologies for households.
